Can I follow the BIT (external) degree programme, while I am in abroad ?
Even though the BIT (external) degree programme is conducted through online, students are expected to come to the University for practical and semester examinations, project evaluations and workshops etc.
How do I get to know about the upcoming intake of BIT (external) degree programme ?
CODL calls applications twice a year. Applications and the other relevant details will be updated to the CODL website.
I am neither a government employee nor a student from a state university (tertiary education), is it possible for me to follow the course under self-study mode ?
es with a condition. You should obtain “B” grade or above in the first year of studies, if you fulfilled the requirement you can change the mode in the second year of studies.
Can I enroll for BIT (external) degree programme while studying another degree ?
Yes. Many internal students from state universities are currently studying BIT (external) degree of the University of Moratuwa.
Can I apply for BIT (external) degree programme through lateral entry with pending results ?
No. CODL will not accept any application with pending results.
I have not yet completed 06 months in-plant training but completed 02 years of course work of HNDIT from SLIATE. Am I eligible to register for BIT (external) degree programme through lateral entry ?
No. CODL accepts applications only from the candidates who have successfully completed HNDIT including 06 months in-plant training and holding the completion certificate.
What support will I get from CODL ?
Level Coordinators, Module Coordinators and Online Instructors all are available to assist you with your studies and related issues, and you will also have an opportunity to interact with academic and academic support staff of BIT (external) degree programme and fellow students via discussion forums.
What is module registration ?
Once you made the relevant payment you will be given a lms account, from that you have to register for each module relevant to the semester.
How will I get an access to the learning material of BIT (external) degree programme ?
Once you get registered for the semester you will be able to log in to Moodle, and all related materials would be uploaded to Moodle by our Module Coordinators.
I need to change the mode of study; how can I proceed ?
A formal request (letter/email) should be sent to CODL to change the mode of study, and CODL will assist you to proceed further. However, student will allow to change the mode of study only at the beginning of the semester.
I am a BIT registered student and paid a certain amount of course fee. But due to my personal/any other issues, I will not be able to continue the programme. Will CODL refund the amount which I paid ?
No. CODL will not refund the amount which paid by the student. (Even though the registered student not participated in any academic activities.)
I am a BIT registered student, however, due to my personal/any other issues, I will not be able to continue the programme. Can I hold the degree for a few months or years and re-start it later from where I stopped ?
The Student should inform CODL and our Career Guidance Counselor would advise in this regard.
I am a BIT registered student, however, due to my personal/any other issues, I will not be able to continue the programme. Is it possible to exit the programme and register again as a new student ?
Yes. Student should have to apply for de-registration and once the approval is received, the student can re-register for the programme.
Can I exit the BIT (external) degree programme while studying ?
Yes. Student should inform CODL and should get de-registered from the degree.
Will I be awarded diploma or higher diploma if I exit the programme before the completion of three (03) years ?
Yes. If a student completes the first level of BIT (external) degree programme, he/she will be awarded a diploma upon the request of the student. If a student completes the second level of BIT (external) degree programme, he/she will be awarded higher diploma upon the request of the student.
After the release of exam results can I request CODL a confirmation letter of my results or grades ?
No. CODL will not issue any letter by confirming your grades or results, and transcripts will be issued only by the Examination Division of the University of Moratuwa.
